If you're an oily skin type, then you already know that finding skincare and makeup products to keep you matte during the day and ensure you don't end up looking like you've been strobing with grandma's bacon grease can be SKRESSFUL!
Living in the south for the past nine years has given me a first row seat into the holy hell that is trying to wear a face full of makeup in warm weather and humidity! So, I've been on a mission to find makeup primers that set my face well, without making me look dry (read casket sharp) and that keep me matte throughout the day.
Now ya'll KNOW I come with the real, so each of these have been tested and tried MULTIPLE times without setting spray or any other skincare products to make sure that they are worthy of your coins and do their part in telling humidity to try Jesus - not you!
Here we go:
1. NARS Pore and Shine Control Primer
Cashing in at $36 at my local Sephora, this product is a 10/10 in my book! It does exactly what it says - controls shine and minimizes pores - FOR HOURS. The consistency of the product is that of a face moisturizer - thick, white and creamy. It dries matte, but doesn't leave your face feeling dry or cracked and it smells amazing! Get it here.
2. FENTY BEAUTY Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer
Cashing in at $32, again at Sephora, Fenty Beauty keeps the gems coming with this one! I'm giving this product a 9/10 as it controls shine and reduces the look of pores like the pro that it is! The formula leaves a little to be desired as it is creamy, but the consistency is a bit runny. It's also a super pretty pink color so hey - how can one complain?! Get it here.
3. bareMinerals Blemish Remedy Mattifying Prep Gel
Cashing in at $25, this product is the cheapest of the bunch, but also the most annoying to apply. It has a gel consistency so it doesn't really act as a moisturizer in a addition to priming as the two above do. It also dries rather quickly, so be sure to squeeze out enough product to cover your entire face at once. Also, this product is likely to cling to any dry areas you may have so beware. Once on, though, the gel does assist in achieving a matte look with minimized pores that lasts! Issa 8/10. Get it here.
Honorable Mention - Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer
While this primer isn't specifically for us oily skin types, it is worth mentioning. Cashing in at only $15, it has a nice creamy consistency and leaves my skin feeling refreshed! It's perfect for days when my skin is a bit on the dry side and/or I won't be wearing my makeup long. Get it here.
Give these a try and let me know what you think! Any other primers out there for us oily skin types I should know about?
