REVIEW: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder - Glow

Hey, dolls! I’m back with a review that has preeeeetty much been a game changer in achieving a dewy makeup look on my oily skin!

I’m talking about the new Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, Glow! I received the Laura Mercier Vox Box, via Influenseter, that included the Glow Translucent Setting Powder and brush as well as a travel size of Laura Mercier’s original Translucent Loose Setting Powder.

Now, I’ve got to be honest, ya’ll, I am a TOTAL creature of habit when it comes to beauty products. Once I find something that works for me, I stick to it and basically never turn back. I’ve been partial to my M.A.C. Studio Fix pressed power for YEEEEEAAAARRRSSS and had NO plans on turning back (Still kinda don’t)!

Rihanna’s song, Loyalty, was actually written about my allegiance to my beauty products!

Well…maybe not, but you get the picture and the frame reads, “I DON’T LIKE CHANGE!” So, while I was willing to try the original Tranluscent Setting Powder (I’ve heard good things!), I’d pretty much written off Glow!

But, as fate would have it, I had a hankering to create a dewy look for a photo shoot recently, so I gave Glow a whirl and OMG. It was the PERFECT amount of dew, and didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or my makeup running off! And the best part? My face didn’t turn into a grease box - event after hours of wear!

A few pro tips when it comes to the powder application:

  • A little goes a long way, especially when using the medium deep color. The powder is extremely pigmented and would have read way too dark (only my skin) if I hadn’t used a light hand when applying.

  • If you have a darker skin tone (like me!) I’d suggest purchasing the powder in medium deep to avoid a potential white caste.

  • The accompanying brush is trash. Don’t waste your coins!

While I’ll be sticking to my MAC pressed powder to set for everyday looks, it IS nice to know that I have go-to that I can trust when I want to achieve a dewy look, like the cool girls!

Have you tried either of the Laura Mercier Setting Powders? Thoughts?

Until next time…

XO,

Adrienne Nichole
